Illusion of Space

Sirens James Jean
Graphite and Digital 2011
A split complimentary color scheme and organic curvilinear volumes in the figures in the foreground, with flat geometric shapes in the background arranged in radial symmetry.  A dynamic space is enhanced in the background through a vanishing point, amplified perspective,  and layering.

Analogous color scheme with flat abstract geometric shapes.  A One-point perspective is used and layered space is achieve by using solid black shapes  in the foreground.
From Justice Alex Ross
2005

Split complimentary color scheme with containment through use of grouping and vertical frames. A dynamic illusion of space is seen in both frames, however, the figure on the left is in a three point perspective, while the figure on the right is in a one point amplified perspective.

Paper 2002

Primary and secondary colors with flat geometric shapes. Rhythm is established through a pattern of curvilinear shapes in the background. Layering of figures creates an illusion of space.
Jantzen Advertisement, Unknown Artist

Complimentary color scheme with horizontal symmetry in the placement of the figures in the foreground. A bright Red is emphasized in the swim shorts of the male figure and the red hair of woman.  An amplified two point perspective is used to create an illusion of space.
